At the traditional railway location of Weiden in der Oberpfalz (Upper Palatinate) OWS, a partner enterprise of the Knape Gruppe, is operating a big workshop for railway vehicles. At a location where, in earlier times, more than 1,200 employees of the former PFA used to work, our partner enterprise OWS has set up a repair unit, development unit and production unit for track construction machines. The entrepreneurial concept of the workshop plans to use the facilities that have been set up at the highest technical level for internal and external customers and to optimize them further through specific expansion investments.

On more than 20.000 m2 of hall area, it is possible to carry out all kinds of maintenance works and conversions, as well as sandblasting and coating works, weighing and surveying works, welding and bonding work — anything is possible here. Due to the long railway tradition at the location of Weiden, it is possible to draw on highly qualified and very motivated employees. The infrastructure is simply unique. Besides social rooms for more than 1,000 employees, OWS has a contemporary hostel as well, with 80 sleeping places, which can be also used by your employees.

For the KNAPE GRUPPE, this cooperation offers the advantage to be able to exert an influence on the quality and the costs of the maintenance of the exten­sive machine fleet. Here, the high standards that the Knape Gruppe sets for the OWS will naturally also benefit the other clients of the OWS.
